Judges: Disgrace & Deliverance
The book of Judges is one of the most disturbing books of the Bible, describing some of the most provocative and alarming times ever recorded in history. Sex and violence, rape and massacre, brutality and deceit are vividly described within the 21 chapters of this Old Testament book. It describes a time in which the people of God chose sin over righteousness and disgrace over promise. But that is the wonderful thing about the Bible. The book of Judges not only reminds us of the realities of a fallen world, it demonstrates to us the overpowering desire of God to deliver His people from it. The book of Judges, perhaps more than any other book of the Bible, shows us both the DISGRACE of sin and the DELIVERANCE of God. Perhaps, now more than ever, it is time for us to come face to face with our own DISGRACE and cry out for the DELIVERANCE that only God can provide. He has done it before time and time again. Now it is our turn.
